Garbincus Tiny House
- Hammerstone School class project
- Extensive energy-efficiency detailing
Amy Garbincus contacted us in the winter of 2014-2015 about sponsoring a Hammerstone School course with her tiny house project. We organized two classes (framing and trim) around the construction of her house. The rest of the work has been done by Hammerstone Builders and Amy herself. Some unique features of the house are it’s extensive energy efficiency detailing and it’s unusual siding – the black color comes from charring the hemlock boards! This Japanese wood preservation technique is called Sho Sugi Ban.
